Platte County is located in West Central Missouri. It is named for the Platte River, which runs through the county.
The seat is Platte City, while the largest city is Kansas City; which extends into the County.
It borders Buchanan, Clinton and Clay Counties in Missouri; as well as Wyandotte, Leavenworth and Atchison Counties in Kansas.
Main highways include I-29, I-435, US-71, MO-9 and MO-45.
